Food Poisoning forced veteran fighter Donald Cerrone to withdraw from UFC 274, The 39-year-old veteran was set to fight Joe Lauzon in a lightweight contest at UFC 274 inside Footprint Center on Saturday, after a one-year layoff. Cerrone (36-16) had been withdrawn from the fight hours prior due to food poisoning.

Cerrone felt fantastic after making weight on Friday, according to ESPN sources, and was OK when he went to bed that night after eating dinner. He felt ill the next morning and was removed from the fight after being assessed by UFC doctors.

Cerrone (36-16) has been in excellent spirits all week and was visibly moved when discussing the opportunity to compete in front of his two sons and a large crowd. Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, he hadn’t fought in front of a crowd since January 2020.

Cerrone even told ESPN on Wednesday that beating Lauzon would be the pinnacle of his illustrious career.

Cerrone’s next move is yet to be announced by the UFC. Randy Brown and Khaos Williams’ welterweight fight was moved from the UFC 274 prelims to the main card.
