Burna Boy’s Police Escort Shots Married Man For Not Allowing Burna Boy Have His Wife
Burna Boy’s Police Escort Shoots Man for Not Allowing Burna Boy to Have his Wife.
Burna Boy, the Grammy Award-winning artist, has been involved in a number of riots and disputes in Lagos, which usually end in tragedy and fights.
When his police officer escorts shot a clubgoer at the Cubana nightclub over the weekend, it was the same tale.
The Lagos State Police Commissioner’s Special Squad has arrested five officers linked to musician Damini Ogulu, alias Burna Boy, for attempted murder after shooting two revelers, Irebami Lawrence and Tolu, at Club Cubana on Victoria Island in Lagos on Wednesday.
The musician and five police escorts visited the nightclub at about 4 a.m. on June 8, according to a preliminary investigation by the Bar Beach Police Division.
Four police officers waited outside as one of them, Inspector Ibrahim, who was dressed in mufti, escorted the Grammy-winning performer into the club.
The musician was in the VIP section with three women when he spotted another woman, according to various witness testimony.
He allegedly told Ibrahim to invite the woman to come with him.
The lady’s husband, on the other hand, was alleged to have slammed the artist, claiming that any guy making overtures at his wife was disrespectful.
Burna Boy reportedly made new passes at the woman after a few minutes.
This upset her spouse even more, as did his buddies at the club.
“As things heated up, Ibrahim pulled out his service weapon and fired multiple shots while Burna Boy laughed,” a senior cop stated.
Lawrence, 27, was shot in the leg during the incident, while his friend Tolu was struck in the head by a bullet. There was a ruckus in the club as a result of this.
Burna Boy and his entourage then drove to one of his houses around the Elegushi end of the Lekki-Epe Expressway before heading to Lekki Phase 1 according to reports.
“After realizing what he’d done, Burna Boy boarded the next flight without even telling the cops. He only communicated with them via video conference to inform them that he had traveled to Spain.
“All of his police escorts have been apprehended and are currently being held at the Command headquarters,” a top source in the Lagos State Commissioner of Police’s office claimed.
According to sources close to the victims, police were already attempting to protect Burna Boy due to his celebrity as the victims were being treated for their injuries at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital in Ikeja.
A brother of the victim, named only as Jide, told Sunday Scoop that his brother had undergone surgery to remove the bullet stuck in his thigh.
Irebami, who is based in the United States, arrived in Nigeria a week ago for a wedding, according to Jide.
He also chastised Club Cubana’s administration for not doing enough to prevent the occurrence, claiming that the club had not even contacted the family since the incident.
