What is the name of one of the oldest lions still in existence?
Meet One of the Oldest African Lions. Loonkito is the name of one of the oldest Lions still in existence (his photo above). In the wild Amboseli National Park, he is currently holding the record for being one of the oldest known African lions.
He is currently older than 17 and has successfully defended his area for more than ten years.

He still rules over a sizable pride of females and cubs, but since 2017 he has been left to fend for himself when his brother and colleague in arms, Ambogga, was killed in a territorial conflict.
Loonkito himself was seriously hurt, but he managed to survive. Since then, he has fiercely defended his home and family.
