According to Neriah JR, a Twitter user, when Durban SAPS arrested the boy whose identity remains undisclosed, they asked him why he was stealing, he explained that he was living alone with Koko in an unpleasant circumstance with no food or a place to sleep.

Instead of detaining the boy, the police instead went to see where he was staying and couldn’t resist offering them food.
