Usher Visits Historic Monuments In The Motherland, Ghana Ahead of the Global Citizen Festival.
Usher Raymond, a well-known American Pop and RnB singer, arrives in Accra, Ghana, ahead of his scheduled appearance at the Global Citizen Festival on this day, Saturday, September 24, 2022.
The Grammy-winning singer visited the BASIC International schools in the Chorkor community of Ghana as soon as she arrived in the nation’s capital, Accra, as part of the Global Citizens campaign to raise awareness and money for the ‘Defend The Planet’ project, which aims to protect the earth and keep the sea safe.
Usher was welcomed by the school administration and students in Grades 7 and 8, who urged them to be excellent ambassadors and make sure they achieved academic success.
Usher was organized by the Global Citizens campaign. He also met with local fishermen and traders while touring a number of locations in the Chorkor neighborhood.

Since 2000, BASICS International has changed the Chorkor community, having an impact on over 300,000 people through community outreach and providing over 3000 educational sponsorships, of which half were given to female students.
BASICS International is a global community-based intervention program that promotes literacy, economic empowerment, health, wellness, and social inclusion.
Usher paid a visit to the historic Cape Coast Town while on tour, and while there, he stopped at the Cape Coast castle, a sacred location that formerly functioned as a hub for the trade of slaves and prisoners.
There, the singer took a minute to reflect on the sorrow and pain endured by his ancestors.
At the Global Citizen Festival tonight, Usher Raymond will take the stage with outstanding African performers including Tiwa Savage, Gyakie, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Stormzy, SZA, Oxlade, Tems, and Uncle Waffles.
