Eligibility

  • Possess a Master’s Degree in one of the subjects of study. The Master’s Degree must have been earned no more than six years prior to July 31, 2021.
  • Meet the admission standards of the African Host University to which they are applying.
  • Be a citizen of a country in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Be willing to enroll full-time in a PhD program in an African Host University for the academic year.
  • Be prepared to spend 6 – 24 months in ‘ sandwich’ training in a global partner university, research center, or private company.
  • Demonstrate that their research objectives are closely matched with the RSIF Priority Thematic Areas and contribute to the development of Africa.

Benefits

The RSIF PhD Scholarship pays for university tuition and fees, as well as a competitive stipend to cover living expenses, travel, medical insurance, and research expenditures.
