LCD Soundsystem – New Body Rhumba is made available through DFA Records and Columbia Records. The song was written by James Murphy, Pat Mahoney, and Nancy Whang, and it was produced by Murphy for DFA Productions.
“New Body Rhumba” was first announced by James Murphy and the band in August. For Noah Baumbach’s upcoming film adaptation of Don DeLillo’s novel White Noise, they created the song.
Since 2017’s American Dream, “New Body Rhumba” is LCD Soundsystem’s first brand-new song. Six years after their ostensibly final performances at Madison Square Garden, which they documented in the 2012 documentary Shut Up and Play the Hits, Murphy and the band released their “comeback” album.
The Long Goodbye: LCD Soundsystem Live at Madison Square Garden, a 5xLP box set released in 2014, also served as a memento of the performance.
In order to create 2019’s Electric Lady Sessions, LCD Soundsystem re-recorded several of their songs with the live band that had accompanied them on their American Dream tour.
