Ayra Starr also known as Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe was born in June 2002 while being a Beninese-born Nigerian singer who started her career in Fashion at 16 before she finally decided to transition into music.
According to rumors, Don Jazzy discovered her talent on social media through song covers especially after posting her original song on her Instagram page in December 2019 which caught the attention of Don Jazzy. He was believed to have signed her into Mavin Record then.
In early 2021, Ayra Starr gained mainstream success with her debut EP, featuring the hit track “Away,” which spent two weeks at number four on Nigeria’s TurnTable Top 50 chart. The song also reached number 17 on Billboard’s Top Triller Global chart, setting the stage for her first full-length mixtape, titled “19 & Dangerous” in 2021. Fusing Afropop and R&B, the mixtape received positive reviews and produced two top 40 hits in Nigeria.

Ayra Starr’s lead single from the mixtape, “Bloody Samaritan,” topped the Top 50 chart, making her the first female artist to achieve this feat. Her talent garnered recognition on Pandora Predictions chart, and she ranked third on Billboard’s Next Big Sound in August 2021.
Ayra Starr’s song “Sability” is relatable as she openly acknowledges how negative surroundings have helped her gain clarity about her life’s purpose. This newfound freedom allows her to live authentically, unconcerned about societal judgments on her fashion choices or sexual orientation.
